Executive Director - Auxiliary Services CorporationDescription Executive Director SUNY Cortland Auxiliary Services, Inc. Mission It is the mission of ASC to establish, operate, manage and promote educationally related services for the benefit of the campus community, including students, faculty, staff, and the community in harmony with the educational mission and goals of SUNY Cortland in a fiscally responsible manner. The Office of the Executive Director is responsible for the organization, supervision, and coordination of the Corporations administrative and dining services, college store, fiscal activity, personnel affairs, and assigned space. The Office also serves as the liaison with the college administration, and thus, promotes and highlights the contributions by ASC to the college and community. Executive Director Responsibilities and Authority SUNY Cortland Auxiliary Services, Inc. (ASC) is incorporated under the New York State Not-For-Profit Law. The Executive Director is responsible to the Board of Directors for the strategic and operational management activities of the Corporation. The Executive Director ensures the proper functioning of the terms and conditions of the contract between the Corporation and SUNY Cortland College. The Executive Director is granted the authority to make administrative decisions regarding financial and business affairs within the SUNY Auxiliary Service Guidelines, to develop and process recommendations for ASC policy, and to implement procedures for policy within ASC. The Executive Director has the following responsibilities: Organization, development, and implementation of all campus auxiliary services, both self-operated as well as contracted, that are not under the auspices of the State University of New York. Included among these services are: dining services, college store, vending, administrative operations, maintenance services, agency accounting, catering, parking and other services provided within the framework of the Corporate By-Laws, and contract with the State University of New York. Leadership Focuses on building a culture of respect, dignity, inclusion, and promotes diversity. Develops and delivers a culture of student success. Serves as liaison with SUNY Cortland, Cortland College Foundation, Cortland College Alumni Association, and the Student Government Association to coordinate accounting and auditing functions. Cultivates and maintains an atmosphere of positive public relations with ASC employees, the board of directors, faculty, students, staff, administration, and the community, Participates in appropriate workshops, meetings, and conference activities, which will enhance ASC operations. Leads the executive team of ASC directors Labor Relations/Personnel Administration Directs Human Resources, Marketing, Informational Technology, and Divisional Directors. Directs the recruitment efforts and evaluation of ASC staff and is responsible for organizing staff development programs. Manages and coordinates the negotiation of the CSEA contract. Serves as member and spokesperson for the management negotiating team. Coordinates effective relationships with the labor organization and maintains contractual commitments consistent with Corporations policies and objectives. Formulates recommendations for the adoption of personnel policies that provide equitable treatment for all employees and ensure that these policies are consistently applied. Develops and maintains a suitable organizational structure, which provides for optimal utilization of management staff throughout the Corporation. Develops and maintains policies, procedures, and manuals concerning all facets of the Corporation. Financial Performance and Viability Responsible for the fiscal integrity of ASC, which includes submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget, long term strategy and financial statements that accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization. Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position and anticipates budget variances and deficits. Ensures that all funds, physical assets, and other property owned by or assigned to the Corporation are appropriately safeguarded, productive, and well maintained. Approves capital expenditures of a routine nature and assists with the development of the annual capital budget. Sub-Contract Administration Coordinates and negotiates with companies who may provide services to the Corporation on a contractual basis and negotiates in the best interest of the Corporation to contract these services or provide them from within the Corporation. Monitors contracted services to ascertain that commitments are met and to ensure that the best possible service at the most favorable economic terms is achieved.
