We need a PR orCommunications academic, experienced in applying research andinsights to professional practice and building education programsfor the training of emerging professionals in the field. NYUSPS seeks an individual who either combines scholarship with directwork experience in companies and/or institutions where they havehelped to solve business and communications challenges, or areflective practitioner with extensive experience in PR and/orCorporate Communications, who has an advanced educationalbackground.The Division of Programs in Business, within NYU's School ofProfessional Studies offers six Master's programs, along with anumber of certificate programs and non-credit courses. Theseprograms combine leading-edge theory with real-world experience tomeet the educational needs of aspiring professionals and preparethem for the demands of the workplace. The Department of IntegratedMarketing and Communications, brings together over 1200 students intwo masters programs, which includes the M.S. in PR and CorporateCommunication, as well as a number of non-credit programs, whichare offered onsite and online.NYU's M.S. in PR and Corporate Communication prepares students toapply theoretical knowledge and effective methodologies, along withprofessional writing, critical thinking and research skills thatare required to become leaders in their field. Our graduatesleave equipped to design and implement communication programs thatpositively contribute to building a brand's reputation, creatingthought leadership, and developing an informed and engaged public.The program provides a strong curricular foundation designed tohelp students anticipate and address the needs of the dynamic andevolving profession of PR and Corporate Communications, and gainperspective on the role of PR as part of an integrated approach tomarketing and communications to drive business impact. Students can choose to specialize in one of two concentrations-Public Relations Management, or Corporate and OrganizationalCommunication.Job DescriptionThis full-time faculty position will begin ideally, in the Springof 2020. The position is a nine-month, non-tenured, one-yearrenewable faculty appointment. The rank of the position will beclinical assistant or clinical associate professor dependent onexperience and qualifications. A successful candidate in theprogram will work closely with the Academic Director to develop anddeliver impactful and engaging course work and co-curricularprograms; to advance thought leadership through applied industryresearch; to build industry relationships and partnerships; tosupport in the growth and development of our adjunct faculty base;and to contribute collaboratively to the advancement of NYU, theschool, and the division's mission and strategy. Along with directteaching responsibilities, candidates will be expected to act as anadvocate for the program, assisting at orientation and informationevents, serving on committees, advising students, and buildingrelationships and programs within NYU SPS and with other NYUschools.Basic QualificationsA PhD, or equivalent degree, in Public Relations, Communications,Media Studies, Journalism or a related discipline is preferred,with a minimum degree of MBA, M.S. or other related Master'sprogram, plus 8-10 years working experience. The ideal candidatewill be able to lead in the creation of intellectual capital aroundtopic areas directly relevant to practitioners of PR and CorporateCommunications, which they would be expected to apply throughclassroom teaching, publication in business or academic journals,industry conferences, consulting and/or corporate partnershipsetc.Experience and research in the areas of Social Media, ProfessionalWriting, Media Relations, Crisis Communications, Data Storytelling,Measurement and Analytics, Ethics and Social Responsibility wouldbe very desirable, as would experience in curriculum, course, andprogram development.The review of credentials will begin immediately and will continueuntil the position is filled.
